BSF Constable (Tradesman)

Border Security Force (BSF) is inviting applications for the post of Constable (Tradesman). This role supports operational readiness through skilled trade services and is filled through a multi-stage selection process including PET/PST, written examination, trade/skill test, document verification, and medical examination.

BSF personnel contribute to national security through disciplined service, operational preparedness, and specialized support functions, including trade and technical roles.

Role Overview

As a Constable (Tradesman), you will perform trade-specific duties essential to the functioning of units and establishments. Candidates are expected to demonstrate trade proficiency, meet prescribed physical standards, and maintain high standards of discipline and conduct.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform duties related to the allotted trade (as per qualification/skill certification and BSF requirements).
  • Support unit operations by ensuring timely completion of trade-related tasks and maintenance work.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in accordance with safety and operational guidelines.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and comply with BSF rules, protocols, and chain of command.
  • Participate in training, drills, and any other duties assigned as per organizational needs.

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Education: Must have passed Class 10 (Matric).
  • Trade Qualification: Must possess ITI/certificate/proficiency in the relevant trade (refer to official notification for trade-wise details).
  • Age Limit (as on 23 August 2025): Minimum 18 years, Maximum 25 years (age relaxation as per BSF rules).
  • Physical Standards (PST):
    • Height (Male): 160 cm (ST) / 165 cm (Other)
    • Height (Female): 148 cm (ST) / 155 cm (Other)
    • Chest (Male): 75–80 cm (ST/Other)
  • Physical Efficiency (PET):
    • Male: 5 km run in 24 minutes
    • Female: 1.6 km run in 8 minutes 30 seconds
  • Must be medically fit as per BSF standards.
