The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is inviting applications for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP). This role is ideal for candidates with strong technical fundamentals, safety-first mindset, and the ability to work in a high-responsibility operational environment. ALPs support train operations by assisting Loco Pilots, ensuring adherence to operating procedures, and maintaining readiness of locomotive systems.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Loco Pilot in safe and efficient operation of locomotives as per railway rules and operating manuals.
- Monitor locomotive instruments, signals, and track-related cues; promptly communicate observations and alerts.
- Support pre-departure checks, basic troubleshooting, and operational readiness of locomotive systems.
- Follow safety protocols, speed restrictions, and instructions from control/operational staff.
- Maintain vigilance during operations, including night shifts and long-duty hours, to ensure safe train running.
- Participate in required training, assessments, and periodic medical/fitness evaluations.
- Assist during emergencies and contribute to incident reporting and compliance requirements.
Requirements
- Education: 10th (Matric) along with ITI in a relevant trade OR a Diploma/Degree in Engineering in the respective field (as per official zone-wise eligibility).
- Age Limit (as on 01 July 2025): Minimum 18 years; Maximum 30 years (age relaxation as per RRB rules).
- Ability to work in rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong attention to detail, situational awareness, and commitment to safety.
- Basic technical aptitude to understand locomotive systems and operational procedures.
- Must be able to clear applicable stages of selection and medical standards as prescribed by RRB.
