This role is designed for qualified special educators who are committed to inclusive education and supporting children with diverse learning needs. The Special School Teacher will deliver structured instruction, implement individualized supports, collaborate with families and school stakeholders, and maintain compliance with applicable guidelines for special education services.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate, inclusive instruction aligned with curriculum standards for Classes 1–5 or 6–8.
- Assess learning needs and implement individualized strategies for students with disabilities across cross-disability settings.
- Develop, adapt, and use teaching-learning materials, assistive tools, and accommodations to ensure accessibility.
- Maintain student progress records, assessment documentation, and required registers in a timely and accurate manner.
- Collaborate with general educators, school leadership, parents/guardians, and support staff to strengthen student outcomes.
- Provide classroom management and behavioral support using positive, evidence-based approaches.
- Support students’ functional, communication, social, and independent living skills as appropriate to age and need.
- Ensure adherence to relevant education policies, safety protocols, and ethical standards of the profession.
- Participate in training, meetings, and school initiatives related to inclusive education and learner support.
Requirements
General Eligibility
- Must be a citizen of India.
- Must meet applicable age criteria as per the recruiting authority’s rules and relaxation norms.
- Must possess a valid CRR (Central Rehabilitation Register) number from the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), where applicable as per qualification route.
For Special School Teacher (Classes 1–5)
- 10+2 (Higher Secondary) or equivalent with at least 50% marks, and one of the following:
- D.El.Ed. in Special Education from an RCI-recognized institution with valid CRR number; or
- D.El.Ed. / equivalent Diploma in Special Education from an RCI-recognized institution with valid CRR number; or
- Six months of specialized training in the field of cross-disability; or
- Qualified in BSSTET Paper I (Special School Teacher Eligibility Test, 2023) as applicable.
For Special School Teacher (Classes 6–8)
- Graduation degree with at least 50% marks from a recognized university, and one of the following:
- B.Ed. in Special Education from an RCI-recognized institution with valid CRR number; or
- Certificate/Diploma in Special Education along with B.Ed. recognized/equated by RCI and valid CRR number; or
- Six months of specialized training in the field of cross-disability; or
- Qualified in BSSTET Paper I (Special School Teacher Eligibility Test, 2023) as applicable.
Preferred Skills
- Strong understanding of inclusive pedagogy, differentiated instruction, and child-centered learning.
- Ability to design accommodations and modifications for diverse learners.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with parents and multidisciplinary teams.
- Basic digital literacy for documentation and instructional support.
