Position: Assistant Electrical Inspector
Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused Assistant Electrical Inspector to support the inspection, testing, and compliance verification of electrical installations and equipment. This role involves field inspections, documentation review, coordination with contractors and stakeholders, and assisting in ensuring adherence to applicable electrical codes, standards, and statutory regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting inspections of electrical installations (residential, commercial, industrial, and public infrastructure) to verify compliance with applicable electrical rules, codes, and safety standards.
- Support the review of electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, load calculations, and technical submissions for regulatory compliance.
- Participate in site visits for commissioning, energization approvals, and safety audits; identify non-compliances and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in witnessing and validating electrical tests (e.g., insulation resistance, earth resistance, continuity, polarity, protective device coordination) as required.
- Maintain inspection records, prepare checklists, draft inspection reports, and help issue observations/notices as per department procedures.
- Coordinate with contractors, facility owners, utilities, and internal teams to schedule inspections and close compliance gaps.
- Support investigations of electrical accidents/incidents by collecting site data, documenting findings, and assisting in root-cause analysis.
- Ensure adherence to safety practices during inspections, including the use of PPE and safe work protocols.
- Assist senior inspectors in administrative tasks, data management, and continuous improvement of inspection processes.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent recognized qualification).
- Working knowledge of electrical safety practices and commonly used electrical codes/standards applicable to installations and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with electrical testing instruments and standard test procedures for installations.
- Strong documentation skills with the ability to write clear inspection notes and reports.
- Good communication skills to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and explain compliance requirements.
- Willingness to travel locally/regionally for field inspections as required.
- Basic computer proficiency (reports, spreadsheets, and record management).
- Preferred: Prior experience in electrical maintenance, commissioning, quality assurance, compliance, or inspection roles.
