Position: SSC Stenographer (Grade C & D)

Overview
We are seeking skilled and detail-oriented Stenographers (Grades C & D) to provide high-quality stenography, transcription, and administrative support in a fast-paced office environment. This role requires excellent shorthand speed, typing accuracy, discretion with confidential information, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Take accurate dictation in shorthand during meetings, briefings, hearings, and official discussions.
  • Transcribe shorthand notes into clear, well-formatted documents within required timelines.
  • Draft, format, and proofread correspondence, reports, minutes, notices, and other official documents.
  • Manage schedules, meeting arrangements, travel coordination, and related administrative logistics.
  • Maintain systematic filing (physical and digital), record-keeping, and document tracking.
  • Handle incoming/outgoing communications (email, phone, letters) with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Support senior officers/teams with day-to-day administrative tasks and coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with office procedures, document standards, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Assist in preparing briefs, compiling reference materials, and maintaining registers as needed.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in stenography (shorthand) and typing with strong accuracy and speed.
  • Strong command of English/Hindi (as applicable) for transcription, grammar, and formatting.
  • Comfortable using computers and standard office software (word processing, email, spreadsheets).
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
  • Education/eligibility, age limits, and selection process as per applicable SSC/department rules and official notification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in government/PSU/corporate secretarial or administrative support roles.
  • Experience preparing minutes, official notes, and structured reports.
  • Familiarity with document control, record management, and office workflow tools.
