Position: Agniveer Vayu (Musician) – Intake 01/2026
Organization: Indian Air Force (Agnipath Scheme)
This opportunity is for candidates with strong musical ability who are interested in serving as a musician under the Agniveer Vayu program. Selected candidates will be assessed through musical proficiency, written and physical tests, adaptability assessments, and medical examination as per applicable standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform as part of an Indian Air Force music ensemble/band, maintaining high standards of tempo, pitch, and musical discipline.
- Demonstrate the ability to sing a complete song and/or perform musical pieces with accuracy and consistency.
- Play at least one musical instrument and demonstrate practical proficiency during selection and training.
- Read, interpret, or use a music notation system (as applicable) and execute rehearsed compositions.
- Participate in rehearsals, performances, ceremonial duties, and other assigned activities as required by the service.
- Maintain physical fitness and service readiness in accordance with program requirements.
Requirements
- Education: Must have passed 10th (Matriculation) with minimum passing marks from a recognized school/board.
- Musical Ability: Good musical ability including correct tempo and pitch; ability to sing a full song; perform a tune; use any music notation system; and play at least one instrument.
- Musical Credentials/Experience: Must meet applicable musical experience criteria such as (indicatively) Grade 5 or higher from a recognized music institute, a diploma in Hindustani or Carnatic music, and/or certificates/awards from recognized music events (refer to the official notification for exact criteria).
- Age Eligibility (as per intake rules): Candidates born between 02 January 2005 and 02 July 2008 (both days inclusive) are eligible for the recruitment rally (as per published intake details). Age relaxation, if any, will be as per official rules.
- Medical Standards (mandatory):
- Height: Male: minimum 162 cm; Female: minimum 152 cm (relaxations may apply for specified regions such as North East/hilly regions of Uttarakhand and Lakshadweep as per rules).
- Chest: Male: minimum 77 cm with minimum expansion of 5 cm; Female: well-proportioned with minimum expansion of 5 cm.
- Hearing: Normal hearing; able to hear a forced whisper from 6 meters with each ear separately.
- General Health: Physically and mentally fit for duties in any climate/terrain; free from active/latent acute/chronic medical or surgical disability and communicable diseases/skin ailments.

Compensation & Benefits
- Monthly Package (indicative):
- 1st Year: ₹30,000/month
- 2nd Year: ₹33,000/month
- 3rd Year: ₹36,500/month
- 4th Year: ₹40,000/month
- Seva Nidhi: 30% of monthly salary contributed to a Seva Nidhi Fund with matching Government contribution; approximate one-time amount after 4 years: ~₹10.04 lakh (as per published details).
- Insurance: ₹48 lakh life insurance cover (non-contributory), as per applicable terms.
- Allowances: Risk & hardship, travel, and uniform allowances as applicable.
- Leave: 30 days annual leave plus sick leave (as per medical advice and rules).
