Position: Librarian
We are seeking a detail-oriented, service-driven Librarian to support the organization, preservation, and discovery of information resources across physical and digital collections. This role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about knowledge management, public service, and modern library systems.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day library operations, including circulation, shelving, cataloging support, and patron assistance.
- Organize, classify, and maintain library resources (books, journals, reports, and digital materials) to ensure easy access and retrieval.
- Support collection development by recommending acquisitions, evaluating usage, and maintaining an up-to-date catalog.
- Provide reference and research support to users, including guidance on database searches and information literacy.
- Maintain and update library records, inventories, and documentation in accordance with internal procedures.
- Assist in planning and delivering library programs, orientations, and user training sessions.
- Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors for subscriptions, renewals, and resource procurement.
- Ensure compliance with applicable policies related to resource usage, copyright, and data privacy.
- Support digitization, archiving, and preservation initiatives where required.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university (completed by the application/selection deadline as applicable).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.
- Customer-service mindset with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of library practices, cataloging concepts, and information retrieval methods.
- Comfort with computers and common office software; ability to learn library management systems (LMS) and digital resource platforms.
- Attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy in documentation and reporting.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a service-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a library, documentation center, academic institution, or public-service environment.
- Familiarity with digital libraries, e-resources, and basic archival practices.
- Exposure to cataloging standards and classification systems (e.g., DDC/UDC) and metadata concepts.
