Responsibilities
- Support safe and efficient railway operations by performing assigned Level 1 duties as per department and posting.
- Assist in track and infrastructure upkeep, including routine inspection support and basic maintenance activities (role-dependent).
- Support station/yard operations such as signaling/points-related assistance and field duties (role-dependent, e.g., Pointsman).
- Assist technical teams in sheds/workshops with tools, equipment handling, basic servicing support, and housekeeping of work areas (role-dependent).
- Follow safety procedures, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and comply with railway rules and instructions.
- Maintain discipline, punctuality, and readiness for shift work, night duty, and outdoor field conditions where applicable.
- Coordinate with supervisors and team members to complete tasks within timelines and quality standards.
Requirements
- Education: Matriculation (Class 10 / High School) from a recognized board.
- Technical Qualification: ITI in relevant trade from NCVT/SCVT approved institution or NAC certification (as applicable to the post/trade).
- Age: Typically 18 to 36 years (age relaxations may apply as per government/RRB rules).
- Physical Fitness (indicative): Candidates may need to qualify a Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Example standards often include weight-carrying and running benchmarks for male/female candidates.
- Work Readiness: Willingness to work in field conditions, workshops, sheds, stations, and other railway premises, including shifts.
