Position: Forest Guard
We are seeking dedicated and physically fit professionals to support forest protection, wildlife conservation, and field operations. This role involves patrolling designated forest areas, assisting in biodiversity protection initiatives, supporting enforcement activities, and contributing to public awareness and conservation programs.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine foot and vehicle patrols in assigned forest ranges to deter illegal activities and ensure compliance with forest and wildlife protection rules.
- Assist in prevention, detection, and reporting of forest offences such as illegal logging, poaching, encroachment, and unauthorized grazing.
- Support wildlife monitoring activities, including observation, habitat checks, and reporting of animal movement or conflict indicators.
- Participate in forest fire prevention, early detection, and response operations, including creating/maintaining fire lines and supporting firefighting teams.
- Assist in plantation, nursery, and habitat improvement work as directed by supervisory officers.
- Coordinate with local communities for awareness programs related to conservation, fire safety, and sustainable forest use.
- Maintain basic field records, patrol logs, incident reports, and communication with the range office.
- Support departmental operations during special drives, inspections, and emergency deployments.
Requirements
- Minimum education: 12th (Intermediate) from a recognized board.
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors in challenging terrain and weather conditions.
- Physical fitness suitable for field duties; must be able to participate in physical efficiency/measurement assessments as applicable.
- Strong observation skills, integrity, and the ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Comfort with shift-based work, night patrols, and travel to remote locations when required.
- Basic communication skills to coordinate with team members, supervisors, and local stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in fieldwork, security, civil defence, NCC/NSS, or community-based environmental programs.
- Familiarity with local geography, forest routes, and basic first aid.
- Interest in conservation, wildlife protection, and public service.
