Position: Dental Surgeon
We are seeking a qualified and patient-focused Dental Surgeon to provide comprehensive dental care services, support preventive oral health initiatives, and deliver high-quality clinical outcomes. This role involves diagnosing and treating oral health conditions, performing dental procedures, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation in compliance with applicable standards and guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Conduct patient consultations, dental examinations, and oral health assessments.
- Diagnose oral and dental conditions using clinical evaluation and appropriate diagnostic tools (e.g., radiographs where applicable).
- Perform dental procedures such as restorations, extractions, scaling and root planing, endodontic procedures (as per competency), minor oral surgeries, and emergency dental care.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and explain procedures, risks, and aftercare to patients.
- Promote preventive dentistry through patient education on oral hygiene, diet, and routine checkups.
- Maintain accurate patient records, treatment notes, consent forms, and prescriptions in line with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and control protocols, sterilization standards, and clinical safety procedures.
- Collaborate with dental assistants, hygienists, and administrative staff to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Participate in community/public health dental programs and awareness initiatives when required.
- Stay current with advancements in dentistry and participate in continuing education and professional development.
Requirements
- BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) from a recognized institution; MDS is a plus.
- Valid registration with the relevant Dental Council/State Dental Council.
- Demonstrated clinical competency in general dentistry and patient management.
- Strong knowledge of dental materials, instruments, sterilization, and infection control practices.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain treatment options clearly and empathetically.
- Sound decision-making skills with a strong commitment to ethical practice and patient confidentiality.
- Comfortable working in a team-based clinical environment.
- Basic computer proficiency for clinical documentation and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a hospital, government health facility, or high-volume clinical setting.
- Exposure to public health dentistry, outreach programs, or community dental camps.
- Additional certifications in endodontics, oral surgery, or dental radiology (where applicable).
