We are hiring a Motor Vehicle Sub Inspector (MVSI) to support road safety, vehicle compliance, and enforcement activities. This role involves conducting vehicle inspections, verifying documentation, assisting in regulatory enforcement, and contributing to safer transportation systems through field-based operations and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Conduct on-road and facility-based inspections of motor vehicles to ensure compliance with applicable motor vehicle laws, rules, and safety standards.
- Verify vehicle documents such as registration, permits, insurance, fitness certificates, tax receipts, and other statutory records.
- Identify violations, issue notices/challans as per procedure, and assist in enforcement actions in coordination with senior officers and relevant authorities.
- Inspect vehicle roadworthiness, including key safety components (e.g., brakes, lights, emissions where applicable) and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare inspection reports, case documentation, and daily/weekly activity summaries with accuracy and timeliness.
- Support accident/incident-related verification tasks (as assigned), including site observations and documentation review.
- Assist in public awareness initiatives related to road safety and compliance.
- Maintain professional conduct, ensure impartial enforcement, and follow departmental SOPs and legal protocols.
Requirements
- Relevant educational qualification as prescribed by the recruiting authority/department for MVSI roles.
- Strong working knowledge of motor vehicle regulations, road safety standards, and compliance procedures (or willingness to learn through training).
- Ability to perform field duties, including outdoor work, inspections, and travel within the assigned jurisdiction.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for reporting and coordination.
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and record management.
- High integrity, attention to detail, and sound judgment in enforcement and inspection scenarios.
- Physical fitness suitable for operational field responsibilities (as per applicable norms).
