Position: Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF)

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) to support forest conservation, biodiversity protection, and sustainable environmental management initiatives. The ACF plays a key role in planning and supervising field operations, enforcing forestry regulations, and collaborating with communities and stakeholders to protect natural resources.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, implementing, and monitoring forest conservation and afforestation programs.
  • Supervise field staff and coordinate day-to-day forestry operations, including patrolling and inspection activities.
  • Support enforcement of forest and wildlife protection laws, including prevention of illegal logging, encroachment, and poaching.
  • Conduct field assessments and prepare technical reports on forest health, biodiversity, and environmental conditions.
  • Support fire prevention and response planning, including readiness drills and incident coordination.
  • Participate in community outreach and awareness programs related to conservation and sustainable livelihoods.
  • Maintain records, documentation, and compliance reports as per departmental requirements.
  • Coordinate with relevant government departments, NGOs, and local bodies for project execution and reporting.
  • Assist in environmental and forestry-related investigations, surveys, and data collection activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Botany, Zoology, Agriculture, or a related discipline (as applicable to the recruiting authority’s rules).
  • Strong understanding of forest ecology, conservation principles, and environmental management practices.
  • Ability to work in field conditions, including remote and rugged terrain, and during varied weather conditions.
  • Working knowledge of compliance, documentation, and reporting processes.
  • Good communication and stakeholder coordination skills, including community engagement.
  • Basic proficiency with computers for documentation and reporting.
  • Integrity, professionalism, and commitment to public service.
  • Selection may involve a written examination and/or interview and verification steps as per official recruitment guidelines.
