Position: BCG Technician
We are seeking a detail-oriented and service-driven BCG Technician to support immunization and public health operations, with a primary focus on safe handling, storage, documentation, and administration support for BCG (Bacillus Calmette–Guérin) vaccination programs. This role is ideal for candidates who are disciplined, process-focused, and committed to community health outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Support BCG vaccination sessions by preparing work areas, maintaining aseptic practices, and ensuring readiness of required supplies.
- Maintain vaccine cold-chain integrity, including temperature monitoring, storage checks, and compliance with applicable protocols.
- Assist in vaccine handling, reconstitution (where applicable), and safe disposal of biomedical waste as per guidelines.
- Record and maintain accurate documentation, including beneficiary registers, stock logs, batch/lot tracking, and daily session reports.
- Coordinate with healthcare staff and field teams to ensure smooth session operations and timely reporting.
- Perform inventory management for vaccines, syringes, safety boxes, PPE, and related materials; raise indent requests as needed.
- Follow infection prevention and control (IPC) standards and participate in audits/inspections when required.
- Support community outreach logistics and help address basic beneficiary queries with professionalism and sensitivity.
Requirements
- Diploma/Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology, Pharmacy, Nursing, or a related paramedical/healthcare discipline (as applicable to local norms).
- Knowledge of immunization workflows, cold-chain practices, and basic public health documentation is preferred.
- Comfortable working in clinic and field settings, including community health centers and outreach sites.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to follow SOPs, and commitment to safety and confidentiality.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting (MS Office/online portals) preferred.
- Ability to work in shifts or as per vaccination session schedules.
- Good communication skills and a cooperative, team-first attitude.
