Position: Public Relation Officer (PRO)
Overview: We are seeking a skilled Public Relation Officer (PRO) to manage and strengthen the organization’s public image through strategic communication, media relations, and stakeholder engagement. This role is responsible for planning and executing PR initiatives, handling press communications, and supporting leadership with messaging that aligns with organizational goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute public relations strategies to enhance brand reputation and public trust.
- Draft, edit, and publish press releases, media statements, speeches, briefing notes, and official correspondence.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries; build and maintain relationships with journalists and media outlets.
- Plan and coordinate press conferences, interviews, public events, and stakeholder meetings.
- Monitor news cycles and public sentiment; prepare daily/weekly media coverage reports and insights for leadership.
- Support crisis communication planning and response, including rapid message development and media coordination.
- Coordinate internal communications to ensure consistent messaging across departments.
- Collaborate with digital/social teams to align PR campaigns with online communications and community engagement.
- Maintain an up-to-date repository of approved messaging, FAQs, and organizational fact sheets.
- Ensure communications comply with applicable policies, standards, and confidentiality requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Mass Communication, Marketing, Political Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in public relations, corporate communications, media relations, or government/public-sector communications (preferred).
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong command of tone and messaging.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills; ability to represent the organization professionally.
- Experience coordinating events and managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable handling sensitive information and supporting crisis communications when required.
- Working knowledge of social media communication best practices and media monitoring tools is a plus.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate across teams.
