Position: Agriculture Technical Officer

We are seeking a detail-oriented and field-capable Agriculture Technical Officer to support agricultural programs through technical guidance, farmer outreach, and implementation support. This role blends field visits with documentation, data review, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders to improve productivity, adoption of best practices, and program outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advisory support on crop production, soil health, nutrient management, pest and disease control, and climate-resilient practices.
  • Conduct field visits, demonstrations, and farmer trainings to promote improved agricultural methods and appropriate input usage.
  • Support planning and execution of agricultural schemes/projects, including beneficiary identification, scheduling, and on-ground monitoring.
  • Collect, verify, and analyze field data (e.g., crop status, input distribution, yield estimates, and farmer feedback) and prepare periodic reports.
  • Coordinate with local stakeholders (farmer groups, cooperatives, extension workers, vendors, and government bodies) to ensure smooth implementation.
  • Assist in developing technical notes, SOPs, and training materials for extension activities.
  • Ensure compliance with program guidelines, quality standards, and documentation requirements.
  • Support grievance handling and resolution by investigating field issues and recommending corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of visits, trainings, inputs, and outcomes using prescribed formats and tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, Soil Science, Plant Protection, or a related discipline (Master’s preferred).
  • Relevant experience in agricultural extension, field operations, agritech deployment, or government/NGO agricultural programs.
  • Strong understanding of crop cycles, integrated pest management (IPM), nutrient management, and basic soil/water conservation practices.
  • Ability to interpret field observations and translate them into actionable recommendations.
  • Comfortable with extensive field travel and working in rural settings.
  • Basic proficiency with data collection tools (mobile apps/forms), MS Office (Excel/Word), and report writing.
  • Good communication skills in local language(s); ability to conduct trainings and community meetings.
  • High integrity, attention to detail, and ability to follow processes and timelines.
