We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Technician (Electrical) to support day-to-day operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities across electrical distribution infrastructure. This role is ideal for candidates who are comfortable working in field and substation environments, follow standard operating procedures, and maintain high compliance with safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment and distribution systems (e.g., feeders, panels, switchgear, transformers, cables, meters).
  • Diagnose faults and support restoration activities to minimize downtime and ensure reliable power supply.
  • Assist with installation, testing, commissioning, and replacement of electrical components as per technical drawings and work instructions.
  • Carry out routine inspections, readings, and reporting (load, voltage, current, insulation, earthing continuity, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, job cards, inspection reports, and material consumption records.
  • Follow safety protocols including lockout/tagout (LOTO), use of PPE, and compliance with electrical safety standards.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and control room teams during outages, breakdowns, and scheduled shutdowns.
  • Support basic housekeeping and 5S practices at work sites and maintenance areas.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and safe usage of tools, test instruments, and spare parts.

Requirements

  • ITI / Diploma in Electrical or equivalent technical qualification from a recognized institute.
  • Working knowledge of electrical distribution systems, basic protection concepts, and standard maintenance practices.
  • Ability to read basic electrical drawings/schematics and follow SOPs.
  • Familiarity with electrical testing instruments (multimeter, clamp meter, insulation tester/megger, continuity tester).
  • Understanding of safety practices for field work, including working at heights and near energized equipment (as applicable).
  • Basic computer literacy for reporting and record maintenance is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, discipline, and a commitment to compliance and safety.
  • Willingness to work in shifts, on-call during outages, and travel locally as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in utility/power distribution, substation operations, or industrial electrical maintenance.
  • Valid electrical license/certification (where applicable) and knowledge of statutory compliance.
  • Experience with metering systems, basic SCADA familiarity, or distribution automation exposure.
