Responsibilities
- Deliver undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching in the allotted specialty, including lectures, demonstrations, and bedside/clinical teaching.
- Supervise and mentor residents, interns, and students; support academic planning and curriculum delivery.
- Participate in clinical services as per departmental requirements, ensuring adherence to institutional protocols and patient safety standards.
- Contribute to departmental academic activities such as seminars, journal clubs, case discussions, and evaluations.
- Support research and scholarly activities, including publications, audits, and quality improvement initiatives (as applicable to the institution/department).
- Maintain accurate academic/clinical documentation and assist in accreditation/inspection readiness activities.
- Collaborate with departmental and institutional leadership on service delivery, teaching schedules, and student assessments.
Requirements
- Education: MD/MS in the relevant subject from a recognized/approved institution. For Dentistry (as applicable), MDS in the concerned subject.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years experience as Senior Resident/Tutor in the relevant subject in a recognized/approved medical college after obtaining the MD/MS degree.
- Alternate eligibility: Officers of the Bihar Health Services Cadre with a postgraduate degree in the subject and at least 3 years of educational experience as Resident/Senior Resident/Tutor in medical colleges/hospitals recognized by the Medical Council of India (as applicable) may be eligible.
- Dental note: For Assistant Professor (Dentistry), 3 years’ experience as Senior Resident/Registrar/Tutor after obtaining the MDS degree in a recognized/approved medical/dental college may be required (as per the relevant advertisement).
- Age limit: As per applicable rules/notification (reference indicates an upper age of 45 years; relaxations as per government norms).
- Strong communication skills, professional ethics, and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary academic-clinical environment.
