Position: Librarian (DSSSB) — Online Form 2025
We are seeking a detail-oriented and service-focused Librarian to support library operations, ensure effective access to learning resources, and deliver high-quality assistance to students, faculty, and staff. This role involves managing print and digital collections, maintaining cataloging and circulation processes, and promoting information literacy initiatives in line with institutional standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day library operations including circulation, membership, and user support.
- Maintain and organize library collections (books, journals, reference materials, and digital resources).
- Perform cataloging, classification, and indexing using standard library practices and tools.
- Support acquisition processes including selection, procurement coordination, and accessioning of materials.
- Assist users with reference queries, research support, and resource discovery (OPAC/databases).
- Promote reading programs, orientation sessions, and information literacy workshops.
- Maintain library records, reports, and documentation; ensure data accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to improve library services, user experience, and resource utilization.
- Ensure proper upkeep of library facilities, including shelving, labeling, and stock verification.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Library & Information Science (or equivalent as per applicable norms).
- Working knowledge of library management systems (LMS) and basic computer applications.
- Familiarity with cataloging/classification standards (e.g., DDC/UDC, AACR2/RDA concepts) is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and record-keeping accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; ability to assist diverse user groups.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
