Responsibilities

  • Perform as part of an Indian Air Force musical ensemble during ceremonial, official, and institutional events.
  • Demonstrate accuracy in tempo, pitch, and song completion during performances and tests.
  • Perform one preparatory tune and execute notations such as Staff notation, Tablature, Tonic Solfa, Hindustani, or Carnatic.
  • Play at least one musical instrument proficiently and tune instruments where applicable.
  • Match unknown notes on vocals or instrument as required during assessments.
  • Maintain physical fitness and military discipline standards expected of IAF personnel.

Requirements

  • Citizenship: Indian citizen; unmarried male/female candidates.
  • Age (as per notification): Candidate must be born between 02 January 2004 and 02 January 2007 (both dates inclusive).
  • Education: Passed Matriculation / 10th or equivalent from a Government-recognized school/board.
  • Musical Proficiency: Strong ability in singing/tempo/pitch and performance readiness; must be able to demonstrate notation and tuning/matching of notes.
  • Instrument Proficiency: Must be proficient in playing any one instrument.
  • Musical Experience/Certification (any one):
    • Grade 5th (or equivalent) or above in one instrument from a recognized institute (e.g., TCL, RSM, KM Music Conservatory, Bangalore School of Music, TSM, GMI, Berklee School of Music, etc.), OR
    • Diploma (or equivalent) in music for candidates performing Hindustani/Carnatic classical music from a recognized university, OR
    • Certificates of participation/awards at various events (as applicable, including for blowing instruments with staff notation).

Physical Eligibility (as per IAF standards in the notice)

  • Height:
    • Male: Minimum 162 cm
    • Female: Minimum 152 cm
    • North East / hilly regions of Uttarakhand: Minimum 147 cm (where applicable)
    • Lakshadweep: Minimum 150 cm
  • Weight: Proportionate to height and age as applicable for IAF.
  • Chest:
    • Male: Minimum chest 77 cm with expansion of at least 5 cm
    • Female: Well-developed chest with minimum expansion range of 5 cm
  • Hearing: Normal hearing; able to hear forced whisper from 6 meters with each ear separately.
  • Dental: Healthy gums, good set of teeth, minimum 14 dental points.
  • Vision: 6/12 each eye, correctable to 6/6 each eye; refractive limits include Hypermetropia +2.0D, Myopia 1D, including ±0.50D astigmatism; Colour vision CP-II.

Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

  • Run: 1.6 km in 7 minutes (Male) / 8 minutes (Female)
  • Strength:
    • Male: 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups, 20 squats
    • Female: 10 sit-ups, 15 squats
