Position: Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI)
We are seeking a detail-oriented and field-ready Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) to support road safety, regulatory compliance, and enforcement of motor vehicle laws. The MVI will conduct vehicle inspections, verify documentation, assess roadworthiness, and contribute to public safety initiatives in coordination with relevant authorities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections of motor vehicles to verify roadworthiness, safety standards, and compliance with applicable motor vehicle rules and acts.
- Perform checks related to vehicle fitness, emissions (where applicable), structural condition, and mechanical safety.
- Verify vehicle documents such as registration, permits, insurance, and driving licenses; identify discrepancies or violations.
- Prepare inspection reports, maintain accurate records, and ensure timely submission of required documentation.
- Assist in enforcement activities, including identifying non-compliant vehicles and recommending corrective actions or penalties as per rules.
- Support investigations related to vehicle defects, road incidents, or compliance complaints when assigned.
- Coordinate with transport department staff, law enforcement, and other stakeholders during inspections and drives.
- Provide guidance to vehicle owners/operators on compliance requirements and corrective measures.
- Participate in departmental meetings, training, and periodic audits as required.
Requirements
- Education: Class 10 (High School) plus Diploma in Automobile Engineering OR Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- License: Valid driving license (required).
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of automobile/mechanical systems and vehicle inspection practices.
- Regulatory Awareness: Familiarity with motor vehicle rules, acts, and compliance processes is preferred.
- Skills: Attention to detail, report writing, basic computer proficiency for documentation, and sound judgment in field situations.
- Work Style: Willingness to work in the field, travel locally as needed, and perform inspections in varied environments.
- Integrity: High ethical standards and commitment to public safety and impartial enforcement.
