Rural Works Department (RWD), Government of Bihar is inviting applications for the position of Assistant Engineer (AE) – Civil. Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and supervise civil works related to rural infrastructure (roads, bridges, buildings, drainage, and allied works) as assigned by the department.

- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and field teams to ensure project milestones, quality standards, and timelines are met.
- Conduct site inspections, monitor workmanship and material quality, and ensure adherence to approved designs and specifications.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, safety regulations, and environmental/administrative requirements.
- Support tendering and procurement processes, including technical evaluation, clarifications, and documentation as per government norms.
- Maintain accurate project records, progress reports, and correspondence; assist in audits and inspections.
- Identify project risks and propose corrective actions to address delays, cost overruns, or technical issues.
- Coordinate with local stakeholders and authorities for smooth execution of works and timely issue resolution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university/institute.
- Working knowledge of civil construction methods, quality control practices, and site supervision.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Familiarity with estimation, billing/measurement, and basic contract administration.
- Proficiency in common productivity tools (e.g., spreadsheets, documentation) and engineering tools (e.g., CAD) is preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and work in field conditions as required.
