Position: Livestock Assistant
We are seeking a dedicated Livestock Assistant to support animal health, husbandry operations, and field-level livestock services. This role involves assisting with routine animal care, basic clinical support, recordkeeping, and coordination with veterinary and extension teams to improve livestock productivity and welfare.
Responsibilities
- Assist in day-to-day livestock care including feeding, watering, sanitation, and housing management.
- Support veterinary staff with basic animal health activities such as preliminary observation, handling/restraint, and post-treatment care.
- Help implement vaccination, deworming, and disease-prevention programs as directed by supervising veterinary personnel.
- Maintain accurate records related to animal health, treatments, breeding, and farm/field visits.
- Provide basic guidance to livestock owners on nutrition, hygiene, and preventive care practices.
- Assist in sample collection support (as instructed), storage, and transport to designated facilities.
- Ensure compliance with safety, biosecurity, and animal welfare standards.
- Coordinate with local teams for program schedules, awareness activities, and documentation.
Requirements
- Passed Class 12 (Intermediate) with relevant science/agriculture subjects (e.g., Physics, Chemistry, Biology and/or Agriculture) from a recognized board.
- Completed either a 1-year Training Certificate in Livestock Assistance or a 2-year Diploma in Livestock Assistance (or equivalent recognized qualification).
- Working knowledge of basic animal husbandry and common livestock health practices.
- Comfortable with fieldwork, farm environments, and handling animals safely.
- Ability to maintain clear records and follow standard operating procedures.
- Good communication skills for interacting with farmers/beneficiaries and team members.
