Position: Assistant Professor

We are seeking a dedicated and student-centered Assistant Professor to join our academic team. This role involves teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses, contributing to curriculum development, mentoring students, and supporting departmental initiatives through research, service, and academic administration. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong subject expertise, effective pedagogy, and a commitment to academic excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality lectures, seminars, tutorials, and practical sessions as assigned by the department.
  • Develop course materials including syllabi, lesson plans, assessments, and learning resources aligned with academic standards.
  • Evaluate student performance through assignments, examinations, projects, presentations, and continuous assessment.
  • Provide academic advising, mentoring, and supervision for students, including project/dissertation guidance where applicable.
  • Engage in scholarly activities such as research, publications, conference participation, and grant or project development (as applicable to the department’s expectations).
  • Participate in departmental and institutional service, including committees, accreditation support, quality assurance, and academic events.
  • Support curriculum review and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring relevance to current academic and industry trends.
  • Maintain accurate academic records and comply with institutional policies and timelines.
  • Contribute to a positive learning environment that supports inclusion, integrity, and professional conduct.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in the relevant discipline; Ph.D. preferred or in progress (depending on institutional norms).
  • Demonstrated teaching ability at the higher education level (experience as lecturer/assistant professor/teaching assistant is an advantage).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse learners.
  • Sound understanding of assessment design, learning outcomes, and academic quality standards.
  • Research orientation with evidence of scholarly output (publications, papers, presentations) preferred.
  • Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS) and common academic/administrative tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Commitment to ethical conduct, academic integrity, and student success.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in the relevant field.
  • Prior experience in curriculum development and outcome-based education.
  • Experience supervising student research/projects.
  • Participation in funded research, consultancy, or industry-academia collaboration.
  • Relevant certifications, professional memberships, or pedagogical training.
