Responsibilities
IES (Indian Economic Service)
- Conduct economic research and policy analysis to support government decision-making.
- Prepare reports, briefs, and presentations on macroeconomic indicators, sectoral trends, and developmental programs.
- Support evaluation of public policies, schemes, and projects using economic frameworks and empirical methods.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across ministries/departments for data interpretation and policy inputs.
- Assist in drafting notes, background papers, and analytical documents for committees and senior officials.
ISS (Indian Statistical Service)
- Design and implement statistical methodologies for surveys, censuses, and administrative data systems.
- Analyze large datasets to generate official statistics and actionable insights for governance.
- Develop sampling strategies, estimation procedures, and quality controls for statistical outputs.
- Prepare statistical reports, dashboards, and technical documentation for publication and internal use.
- Support inter-departmental coordination for standardization, data governance, and statistical capacity building.
Requirements
- Age Limit (as on 01 August 2025): 21 to 30 years (age relaxation as per UPSC rules).
- Educational Qualification:
- IES: Master’s degree in Economics / Applied Economics / Business Economics / Econometrics from a recognized university in India.
- ISS: Bachelor’s degree with Statistics / Mathematical Statistics / Applied Statistics as a subject, or a Master’s degree (as per UPSC eligibility).
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret data and translate findings into clear recommendations.
- Effective written communication for drafting formal notes, reports, and technical documentation.
- Integrity, professionalism, and ability to work in a high-accountability public service environment.
