We are seeking a qualified Agriculture Officer to support agricultural development initiatives, improve farm productivity, and promote sustainable agronomy practices. This role involves field-based advisory services, crop planning support, data-driven reporting, and coordination with stakeholders to implement agriculture programs effectively.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field visits to assess crop conditions, soil health, irrigation practices, pest/disease incidence, and overall farm performance.
- Provide technical guidance to farmers and stakeholders on crop production, nutrient management, integrated pest management (IPM), and best agronomic practices.
- Support implementation of agricultural schemes and programs, including awareness sessions, demonstrations, and training workshops.
- Assist in planning seasonal crop calendars and recommending suitable varieties based on agro-climatic conditions.
- Collect, validate, and analyze field data; prepare periodic reports, dashboards, and documentation for internal and external review.
- Coordinate with research/extension teams to translate research findings into actionable field recommendations.
- Support compliance with applicable guidelines and maintain accurate records related to field activities, inputs, and outcomes.
- Collaborate with allied departments and partners to improve adoption of sustainable practices and resource efficiency.
Requirements
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Agriculture or a relevant discipline (e.g., Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Soil Science/Agriculture Chemistry, Agriculture Botany).
- Practical understanding of crop production systems, plant protection, soil fertility, and farm advisory methods.
- Ability to conduct field assessments and communicate recommendations clearly to diverse audiences.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills; comfort working with data collection tools and MS Office.
- Willingness to travel extensively for fieldwork as required.
- Professional integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in agriculture extension, field trials, government/large-scale agriculture programs, or advisory services.
- Knowledge of sustainable agriculture practices, climate-resilient farming, and water-efficient irrigation methods.
- Familiarity with basic statistical concepts and field data analysis is an advantage.
