Assistant Teacher (Nursery)

We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Teacher (Nursery) to support early childhood learning in a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. This role focuses on nurturing foundational skills (language, social-emotional development, motor skills, and early numeracy) through play-based learning, structured activities, and positive guidance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Lead Teacher in planning and delivering age-appropriate lessons and play-based learning activities for nursery students.
  • Create a warm, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that supports children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
  • Assist with classroom routines including arrival/dismissal, circle time, learning centers, transitions, and nap/rest time (as applicable).
  • Observe children’s progress and behavior; help document developmental milestones and learning outcomes.
  • Support positive behavior strategies and help children develop self-regulation and cooperative skills.
  • Prepare teaching-learning materials, learning corners, and activity stations; maintain classroom organization and hygiene standards.
  • Communicate respectfully with parents/guardians regarding daily routines and general progress (as guided by school policy).
  • Assist with safety supervision during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring child safeguarding practices are followed.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and participate in training, meetings, and school events as required.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree (or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
  • Nursery Teacher Training (NTT) / Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) or a related qualification is preferred.
  • Prior experience working with young children (nursery/kindergarten) is preferred; freshers with strong aptitude may also be considered.
  • Strong communication skills and a patient, child-centric approach.
  • Basic classroom management skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a teaching team.
  • Comfortable preparing simple teaching aids and using age-appropriate instructional methods.
  • Commitment to child safety, safeguarding, and professional conduct.
