Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests as per departmental protocols and quality standards.
- Handle sample collection, labeling, processing, and documentation in accordance with biosafety guidelines.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments; ensure proper upkeep of equipment logs.
- Maintain accurate records, registers, and reporting formats as required by program and laboratory standards.
- Support internal quality control and participate in external quality assurance activities where applicable.
- For Senior Laboratory Technician roles: support advanced microbiology/TB-related testing workflows (e.g., genotypic and phenotypic methods) as per eligibility and assignment.
- Coordinate with supervisors and program teams to ensure timely reporting and compliance with applicable health program requirements.
Requirements
Age Limit (as on 01 August 2025)
- Minimum Age: 21 years
- Maximum Age (Male UR/EWS): 37 years
- Maximum Age (Female UR/EWS): 40 years
- Maximum Age (Male/Female BC/MBC): 40 years
- Maximum Age (Male/Female SC/ST): 42 years
- Age relaxation as per Bihar SHS recruitment rules.
Educational Qualifications
Laboratory Technician:
- Intermediate/12th with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, and
- Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT) or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) from a recognized university/institution.
Senior Laboratory Technician:
- M.Sc. in Medical Microbiology / Applied Microbiology / General Microbiology / Biotechnology / Biochemistry with or without DMLT, OR
- Two years of work experience in TB laboratory tests related to Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Genotypic tests such as NAAT/LPA and/or Phenotypic tests such as Culture & Drug Susceptibility Tests), OR
- B.Sc. (Microbiology/Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Chemistry/Life Science/Botany/Zoology) with DMLT, OR
- Three years of work experience in TB laboratory tests related to Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Genotypic tests such as NAAT/LPA and/or Phenotypic tests such as Culture & Drug Susceptibility Tests).
