Position: Library Assistant (Bihar Vidhan Sabha Sachivalaya, Government of Bihar)
This opportunity supports the day-to-day functioning of the Vidhan Sabha library services, including cataloging, circulation support, record maintenance, and assisting members/staff in locating legislative and reference materials. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a formal government environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in library operations including issue/return, shelving, and upkeep of reading areas.
- Support cataloging and classification of books, journals, reports, and legislative documents.
- Maintain library registers, indexes, and digital/physical records as applicable.
- Help users locate reference materials and respond to routine information requests.
- Assist in stock verification, labeling, and basic preservation of library resources.
- Coordinate with internal departments for requisitions, documentation, and record movement.
- Follow official procedures, confidentiality requirements, and administrative instructions.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in any stream from a recognized university in India.
- Age Limit (as on 01 August 2024): Minimum 21 years; Maximum 37 years (age relaxation as per Bihar Vidhan Sabha recruitment rules).
- Strong documentation and record-keeping skills with attention to accuracy.
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and handling office/library records.
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate clearly in a professional setting.
