Responsibilities
Responsibilities vary by post and group level. Typical responsibilities may include:
- Providing administrative and secretariat support (drafting, filing, coordination, records management).
- Assisting in section operations and compliance with internal procedures (ASO and related roles).
- Supporting laboratory/testing workflows and technical documentation (Technical Assistant – Laboratory).
- Executing maintenance/technical trade duties as per ITI discipline (Technician/Senior Technician).
- Supporting finance, marketing, consumer affairs, or Hindi language functions for director-level roles.
- Providing stenography/typing/shorthand support for designated offices (Stenographer/Personal Assistant).
Requirements
Educational Qualifications (Post-wise)
- Senior Secretariat Assistant: Bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognized university in India.
- Junior Secretariat Assistant: Bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognized university in India.
- Stenographer: Bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognized university in India.
- Assistant Section Officer (ASO): Bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognized university in India.
- Technical Assistant (Laboratory):
- Mechanical: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 60% marks (50% for SC/ST).
- Chemical/Microbiology: B.Sc. in relevant discipline with 60% marks (50% for SC/ST).
- Senior Technician: Class 10 (Matric) + ITI in Electrician/Fitter/Carpenter/Plumber/Wireman/Welder + 2 years’ experience.
- Technician (Electrician/Wireman): Class 10 (Matric) + ITI in Electrician/Wireman + Apprentice Certificate.
- Assistant Director (Administration & Finance): CA / Cost and Works Accountant / MBA (Finance) + 3 years’ experience.
- Assistant Director (Marketing & Consumer Affairs): MBA (Marketing) / Master’s degree / PG Diploma in Mass Communication / Social Work.
- Assistant Director (Hindi): Master’s in Hindi with English at degree level OR Master’s in English with Hindi at degree level + 5 years’ experience.
- Personal Assistant: Bachelor’s degree in any stream + shorthand qualification:
- Dictation: 100 WPM for 7 minutes (English or Hindi)
- Transcription: 45 minutes (English) / 65 minutes (Hindi)
- Assistant (Computer Aided Design): As per BIS notification for the post.

- Group A: Maximum 35 years
- Group B: Maximum 30 years
- Group C: Maximum 27 years
- Age relaxation applicable as per BIS recruitment rules.
