About the Role
The Community Coordinator plays a pivotal field role in strengthening community institutions and advancing rural livelihood outcomes. Working within an assigned cluster of villages, you will support the formation and nurturing of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), facilitate community planning, enable access to financial services, and help ensure effective utilization of community funds and resources. This position requires strong community engagement skills, frequent field movement, and the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders at the village and block levels.

Responsibilities

  • Work at the village level within an assigned cluster to mobilize communities and support the formation, strengthening, and sustainability of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and their federations.
  • Deliver basic orientation and training to SHG members and community institutions on group processes, governance, savings, internal lending, and record-keeping.
  • Coordinate and guide community support cadres (e.g., community resource persons) to ensure timely and quality implementation of program activities.
  • Facilitate micro-planning processes and support preparation of village/cluster-level plans aligned with program objectives.
  • Enable and support bank linkages for SHGs, including account opening, credit linkage processes, and coordination with bank officials and other financial institutions.
  • Support the planning, release, utilization, and monitoring of Community Investment Funds (CIF) and ensure adherence to program guidelines.
  • Assist in identification and resolution of community-level issues and conflicts through participatory approaches and coordination with local stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate field documentation and submit periodic reports/data as required by block/district teams.
  • Undertake regular field visits to monitor progress, provide handholding support, and ensure inclusion of vulnerable households.

Requirements

  • Education: Fresh graduates (male) or Intermediate qualification (female) in any discipline from a recognized institute/university, as per role eligibility referenced in the recruitment details.
  • Field Orientation: Willingness to work extensively in rural areas and travel frequently within assigned geographies.
  • Community Engagement: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to mobilize and work with community groups.
  • Coordination Skills: Ability to collaborate with SHGs, community cadres, banks, and block/district program teams.
  • Documentation: Basic ability to maintain records, capture field information, and support reporting requirements.
  • Integrity & Accountability: Commitment to transparency, proper fund utilization, and adherence to program processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior exposure to SHG-based programs, rural development initiatives, microfinance, or community institution building.
  • Comfort working with diverse stakeholders and facilitating group meetings/trainings.
  • Basic computer literacy for data entry/reporting (where applicable at the block level).
