The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) invites eligible candidates to submit the Mains online form for the post of District Statistical Officer (DSO) / Assistant Director in the Planning & Development Department, Government of Bihar. This role supports evidence-based policy and planning through statistical analysis, data systems strengthening, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and execute statistical studies to support district and state-level planning initiatives.
- Collect, validate, analyze, and interpret socio-economic and administrative datasets.
- Prepare analytical reports, statistical bulletins, dashboards, and presentations for stakeholders.
- Ensure data quality through standard methodologies, documentation, and audit-ready processes.
- Coordinate with government departments and field offices for timely data submission and verification.
- Support monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities, including indicator development and performance tracking.
- Assist in implementing statistical standards, definitions, and classification systems as applicable.
- Contribute to policy notes and planning documents by providing statistical insights and projections.
Eligibility & Requirements
Educational Qualification
- Post Graduation degree in any stream from a recognized university/institute.

- Minimum Age: 21 years
- Maximum Age: 37 years (Male)
- Maximum Age: 40 years (Female UR, BC, EBC Male & Female)
- Maximum Age: 42 years (SC, ST Male & Female)
