Position: Drug Inspector

We are seeking a detail-oriented and integrity-driven Drug Inspector to support regulatory compliance and public health protection by inspecting pharmaceutical manufacturing, storage, distribution, and retail facilities. This role involves verifying adherence to applicable drug laws and quality standards, collecting samples, documenting findings, and coordinating enforcement or corrective actions where required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine and surprise inspections of drug manufacturing units, warehouses, distributors, hospitals, and retail pharmacies to ensure compliance with applicable drug regulations and licensing conditions.
  • Verify procurement, storage, handling, labeling, and sale of drugs to ensure quality, safety, and traceability.
  • Collect drug samples as per prescribed procedures; prepare documentation, sealing, chain-of-custody records, and submit samples for laboratory testing.
  • Review records including batch manufacturing records, purchase/sales invoices, temperature logs, controlled substance registers, and recall documentation.
  • Investigate complaints related to spurious, substandard, adulterated, misbranded, or expired drugs and prepare investigation reports.
  • Issue inspection observations, notices, and recommendations; follow up on corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and verify closure.
  • Support enforcement actions such as seizure, stop-sale, suspension/cancellation recommendations, and prosecution support, as applicable.
  • Maintain accurate inspection notes, evidence records, and periodic reports; ensure documentation meets legal and audit standards.
  • Coordinate with laboratories, licensing authorities, law enforcement, and other stakeholders for compliance and public safety initiatives.
  • Participate in regulatory drives, awareness programs, and special inspection campaigns as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy/Pharmaceutical Sciences (or equivalent qualification as required by the applicable regulatory framework).
  • Knowledge of drug regulatory laws, rules, and guidelines governing manufacture, sale, and distribution of pharmaceuticals.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents such as COAs, SOPs, stability data, labeling requirements, and quality system records.
  • Strong documentation and report-writing skills with high attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with pharmacists, quality teams, management, and government stakeholders.
  • High ethical standards, impartial judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive investigations.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned jurisdiction and conduct field inspections.
  • Basic computer proficiency for drafting reports, maintaining records, and using online systems.
