Forest Guard

Position: Forest Guard (Vanrakshak) / Wildlife Guard

Overview: We are seeking disciplined, field-ready candidates to support forest protection, wildlife conservation, and enforcement activities. This role involves patrolling forest areas, preventing illegal activities, assisting in habitat protection initiatives, and supporting departmental operations in coordination with senior forest officials.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols in assigned forest ranges and sensitive zones.
  • Assist in prevention and reporting of illegal logging, poaching, encroachment, forest fires, and other violations.
  • Support wildlife monitoring activities, including sightings documentation and basic field reporting.
  • Participate in fire prevention and firefighting operations, including creation/maintenance of fire lines where required.
  • Assist in protection and maintenance of forest assets (check posts, barriers, plantations, watchtowers, and departmental property).
  • Support community outreach activities related to forest conservation and compliance awareness.
  • Maintain basic records/logs as directed (patrol registers, incident reports, seizure memos where applicable).
  • Work in shifts and remote locations, including weekends/holidays, as per operational needs.
  • Coordinate with senior staff during inspections, drives, and special operations.
  • Comply with departmental protocols, safety procedures, and lawful instructions.

Requirements

  • Education: 12th pass from a recognized board.
  • Exam Qualification (as applicable): Must have qualified UPSSSC PET 2022 (as referenced for this recruitment stream).
  • Age Limit (as on 01 July 2023): 18 to 40 years; age relaxation as per applicable government rules.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to perform outdoor duties for extended periods; must be able to meet PET/PST and medical standards as applicable.
  • Skills: Basic documentation/report writing, alertness, integrity, teamwork, and ability to follow instructions under field conditions.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with local terrain/forest conditions, prior NCC/field experience, and comfort using basic mobile applications for communication.
