Position: HAL Trade Apprentice (Apprenticeship Training)

We are inviting applications for the HAL Trade Apprentice role. This opportunity is designed for candidates who want to build hands-on technical skills through structured on-the-job training in a professional industrial environment. As a Trade Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced technicians and supervisors, rotate across relevant shop-floor functions (as applicable), and learn standard operating procedures, safety practices, and quality systems aligned with modern manufacturing and maintenance operations.

This is an apprenticeship/training engagement and not a permanent employment role. Final engagement terms, training duration, stipend, and trade-wise allocation will be governed by the official apprenticeship guidelines and the organization’s policies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in day-to-day shop-floor or maintenance activities under the supervision of designated mentors/supervisors.
  • Learn and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to your assigned trade (e.g., Fitter, Electrician, Machinist, Welder, Turner, Electronics/Instrumentation, or other relevant trades as notified).
  • Support routine inspection, basic troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance tasks as instructed.
  • Maintain discipline, punctuality, and adherence to training schedules, rotations, and assessment requirements.
  • Comply with workplace safety rules, PPE usage, and EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) guidelines at all times.
  • Assist in maintaining logs, checklists, and simple documentation related to work performed during training.
  • Participate in classroom/technical sessions, tool-box talks, and assessments conducted during the apprenticeship period.
  • Follow quality standards and good housekeeping practices (5S) in work areas.

Requirements

  • Relevant technical qualification for the trade (typically ITI/NCVT/SCVT or equivalent) as applicable to the apprenticeship notification.
  • Basic understanding of tools, equipment, and workshop practices for the chosen trade.
  • Ability to read and understand basic technical instructions and safety signage.
  • Willingness to work in an industrial environment and learn through hands-on training.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Commitment to follow organizational policies, confidentiality norms, and safety procedures.
  • Eligibility conditions such as age limits, trade eligibility, and documentation requirements will be as per the official apprenticeship notification.

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to workshop/lab practicals, industrial training, or projects during ITI.
  • Basic knowledge of measurement instruments, hand tools, and electrical/mechanical safety practices (trade-dependent).
  • Positive learning attitude and ability to take feedback from supervisors.
