Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) invites applications for the position of Head of Department (HOD) across multiple engineering and allied disciplines. The HOD will provide academic leadership, oversee departmental governance, drive teaching and research excellence, and strengthen industry engagement in line with institutional and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities
- Provide strategic academic and administrative leadership for the department, ensuring high standards in teaching, research, and student outcomes.
- Plan and monitor curriculum delivery, academic calendars, assessment practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead faculty development, performance management, workload planning, and mentoring of academic staff.
- Promote research culture including publications, funded projects, patents/innovations, and collaborations.
- Strengthen industry and institutional linkages for internships, placements, MoUs, consultancy, and joint research.
- Oversee departmental budgeting, procurement planning, laboratory/resource management, and infrastructure utilization.
- Ensure compliance with applicable academic/regulatory requirements and support accreditation/quality assurance activities.
- Coordinate admissions support, student advising, grievance redressal, and overall student engagement initiatives.
- Represent the department in institutional committees and contribute to cross-departmental initiatives.
Requirements
- Education: Ph.D. in the relevant discipline with First Class at Bachelor’s or Master’s level in the relevant field (or both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in the relevant discipline), as applicable to the subject.
- Experience (one of the following):
- Minimum 12 years of experience in Teaching/Research/Industry, including at least 2 years post-Ph.D. experience at minimum the level of Lecturer (Selection Grade-I); OR
- Minimum 15 years of experience in Teaching/Research/Industry, including at least 3 years at the level of Lecturer (Selection Grade-II).
- Age Limit (as on 01 August 2025): Minimum 33 years; maximum age limit as per rules/notification.
- Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage academic operations, faculty teams, and departmental governance.
