The Indian Navy invites applications for Short Service Commission (SSC) Executive (IT) Officers to support mission-critical naval operations through secure, resilient, and modern information technology capabilities. Responsibilities

Plan, implement, and maintain IT infrastructure and services supporting naval operations, bases, and deployed units.
Support secure networks, servers, and enterprise applications, ensuring high availability and performance.
Assist in cybersecurity operations including monitoring, incident response support, vulnerability management, and compliance activities.
Work with cross-functional teams to deploy, configure, and troubleshoot hardware/software solutions.
Support data management and system administration tasks, including backups, patching, and documentation.
Contribute to IT governance, process improvement, and adherence to policies and standard operating procedures.
Participate in training, drills, and readiness activities as required by the service.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or an equivalent qualification in IT/Computer Science or a closely related discipline (as per official eligibility criteria for SSC Executive IT).
Strong fundamentals in computer networks, operating systems, and information security.
Working knowledge of one or more areas: system administration, network administration, cybersecurity, cloud fundamentals, scripting/automation, databases, or enterprise IT support.
Ability to work in a structured, high-accountability environment with confidentiality and integrity.
Good analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Medical/physical standards and age criteria as prescribed by the Indian Navy for SSC entries.

Preferred Skills

Exposure to security concepts (SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint security) and secure configuration practices.
Experience with Linux/Windows administration, networking (routing/switching), or virtualization.
Scripting knowledge (e.g., Python/PowerShell/Bash) for automation and operational efficiency.
Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, Security+, Linux+, or equivalent) are an advantage.
