Position: Informatics Assistant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and service-minded Informatics Assistant to support day-to-day IT operations, data management, and user assistance across departments. This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy troubleshooting, maintaining systems, and ensuring accurate handling of digital records and information workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level technical support to users (desktop, applications, printers, basic network connectivity).
  • Assist in maintaining and updating databases, spreadsheets, and digital records with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Support installation, configuration, and routine maintenance of computer systems, peripherals, and standard software.
  • Help coordinate data entry, verification, and reporting activities as required by the department.
  • Monitor system performance and escalate complex issues to senior IT staff or vendors when needed.
  • Maintain documentation for common issues, standard operating procedures, and asset inventories.
  • Assist with basic cybersecurity hygiene (password practices, endpoint updates, safe handling of data).
  • Support digitization initiatives, including scanning, indexing, and organizing electronic files.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure timely resolution of IT/service tickets and user requests.

Requirements

  • Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Information Systems, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Working knowledge of operating systems (Windows/Linux), office productivity tools, and basic networking concepts.
  • Experience with data handling, record management, and preparing routine reports.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to communicate solutions clearly to non-technical users.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and commitment to confidentiality and data integrity.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn new tools and follow defined processes and compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with helpdesk/ticketing systems and IT asset management practices.
  • Basic understanding of SQL/databases, data validation, or MIS reporting.
  • Exposure to government/large-organization workflows, documentation standards, or audit requirements.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCC, CompTIA ITF+/A+, or equivalent) are a plus.
