ITBP Medical Officer (MO) / Specialist / Super Specialist

Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) invites applications for Medical Officer cadre positions across multiple levels, including Medical Officer (Assistant Commandant), Specialist Medical Officer (Deputy Commandant), and Super Specialist Medical Officer (Second-in-Command). Position Overview

  • Roles: Medical Officer (AC), Specialist Medical Officer (DC), Super Specialist Medical Officer (2IC)
  • Total Vacancies: 345
  • Selection Process: PET/PST (as applicable) and further stages as per ITBP recruitment rules

Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient and inpatient medical care to personnel and eligible beneficiaries.
  • Conduct clinical examinations, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care in accordance with standard medical protocols.
  • Support preventive healthcare initiatives, health education, vaccination programs, and medical fitness assessments.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, reports, and documentation as per departmental standards.
  • Coordinate referrals, specialist consultations, and emergency response/trauma care when required.
  • Ensure compliance with medical ethics, statutory requirements, and applicable clinical guidelines.
  • For Specialist/Super Specialist roles: deliver specialty/super-specialty services, mentor clinical teams, and support clinical governance.

Requirements

General Eligibility (All Roles)

  • Recognized medical qualification as per the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (as applicable to the post).
  • Completion of compulsory rotating internship (candidates undergoing internship may be eligible to apply/appear as per rules, but must complete internship prior to appointment if selected).
  • Permanent registration with MCI/NMC/State Medical Council before appointment.

Post-wise Qualification

  • Medical Officer (Assistant Commandant):
    • Recognized MBBS/allopathic qualification included in relevant schedules of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (non-licentiate).
    • Permanent registration with MCI/NMC/State Medical Council.
    • Compulsory rotating internship completed.
  • Specialist Medical Officer (Deputy Commandant):
    • Recognized allopathic medical qualification as per IMC Act schedules (non-licentiate) with required conditions for Part-II of third schedule, if applicable.
    • PG Degree/Diploma in the concerned specialty (Schedule-I Section A/B or equivalent).
    • Experience requirement (as per notification):
      • 1.5 years after PG Degree, or
      • 2.5 years after PG Diploma in the concerned specialty.
    • Permanent registration with MCI/NMC/State Medical Council.
    • Compulsory rotating internship completed.
  • Super Specialist Medical Officer (Second-in-Command):
    • MBBS or equivalent from a recognized institution included in the first schedule to the IMC Act, 1956.
    • Enrolled in a State Medical Register and completion of compulsory rotating internship.
    • PG Degree/Diploma in related specialty (Schedule-I Section A/B or equivalent).
    • DM/M.Ch. (or equivalent) with 3 years’ experience in the concerned super-specialty after first PG degree (senior residency counted toward experience as per rules).
    • Permanent registration with MCI/NMC/State Medical Council before appointment.

Age Limit (as per recruitment rules)

  • Super Specialist MO: Maximum 30 years
  • Specialist MO: Maximum 40 years
  • Medical Officer: Maximum 50 years
  • Age relaxation as per ITBP Medical Officer recruitment rules.
