Role Overview
As a Junior Engineer / Officer, you will support day-to-day technical operations, preventive and breakdown maintenance, equipment monitoring, documentation, and compliance activities. Depending on your discipline, you may work with process units, rotating/static equipment, electrical systems, or instrumentation and control systems.
Responsibilities
- Support safe and efficient operation of plant/terminal systems in line with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Assist in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and breakdown restoration for discipline-specific equipment and systems.
- Monitor performance parameters, record readings, and maintain technical logs and shift reports.
- Participate in safety practices including permit-to-work, hazard identification, and compliance with statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance teams, and contractors for planned jobs and shutdown activities.
- Support calibration, testing, inspections, and routine checks as applicable to the discipline.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, housekeeping norms, and documentation requirements.
- Assist in implementing reliability improvements and corrective actions based on root-cause analysis.
Requirements
- Age Limit: Maximum 26 years (as per applicable cut-off date and IOCL rules); age relaxation as per regulations.
- Education (Discipline-wise):
- Junior Engineer / Officer (Chemical): 3-year Diploma with at least 65% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwBD) in Chemical Engineering, Chemical Technology, Petrochemical Engineering, or related fields.
- Junior Engineer / Officer (Mechanical): 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institute.
- Junior Engineer / Officer (Electrical): 3-year Diploma in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics / Electrical Power System / Electrical Engineering (Industrial Control) or related streams.
- Junior Engineer / Officer (Instrumentation): 3-year Diploma in Instrumentation / Instrumentation & Electronics / Instrumentation & Control / Applied Electronics & Instrumentation or related streams.
- Ability to work in shift-based or field-based operational environments (as per site requirements).
- Strong fundamentals in engineering concepts, safety awareness, and willingness to learn industrial systems.
- Basic proficiency in documentation and using digital systems/tools for reporting (preferred).
