Position: Junior Telecom Officer (JTO)

Responsibilities

Support planning, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of telecom networks (wireline/wireless, transmission, and access networks).
Perform troubleshooting, fault isolation, and restoration to ensure high network availability and service continuity.
Monitor network performance indicators and assist in optimization of network elements and services.
Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and contractors for site readiness, equipment deployment, and preventive maintenance.
Prepare technical reports, field visit notes, and documentation for installations, outages, and compliance requirements.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols, statutory requirements, and organizational SOPs during field and site activities.
Assist in customer/service escalations related to network issues and support resolution within defined timelines.
Participate in audits, inspections, and quality checks for network assets and operational processes.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology in a relevant discipline (e.g., Telecommunications, Electronics & Communication, Electrical, Computer Science/IT) from a recognized university/institute.
Working knowledge of telecom fundamentals: RF, switching, transmission, IP networking, fiber optics, and basic network security concepts.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, network diagrams, and equipment manuals.
Willingness to work in field conditions, including travel to sites and participation in on-call/shift support as required.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
Good communication skills for coordination with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Basic proficiency with MS Office tools for reporting and documentation.
Eligibility criteria (age limits, relaxations, and other conditions) will be as per the official BSNL notification for the recruitment.

Preferred Qualifications

Hands-on exposure (internship/project) to telecom operations, network implementation, or IT/networking environments.
Familiarity with tools/technologies such as IP routing concepts, optical transport basics, and network monitoring systems.
Relevant certifications (e.g., networking/telecom) are a plus.
