We are seeking a reliable Lift Operator & Mechanic to support the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of passenger and service lifts within a high-traffic institutional environment. This role combines day-to-day lift operation support with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordination with facilities and safety teams to ensure uninterrupted service and compliance with applicable standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate lifts/elevators safely and courteously, ensuring smooth passenger movement and adherence to operating procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections and basic functional checks (doors, leveling, alarms, emergency communication systems, indicators).
- Perform preventive maintenance activities as per schedule, including lubrication, cleaning, adjustments, and minor repairs.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults; respond to breakdowns and restore service promptly while maintaining safety controls.
- Coordinate with external service vendors for major repairs, parts replacement, and periodic statutory inspections.
- Maintain logs for daily operations, maintenance activities, incident reports, and spare parts usage.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and emergency response guidelines.
- Assist with evacuation/rescue procedures during lift entrapments, following approved safety processes.
- Support facility management with related mechanical tasks as assigned (basic tools, minor fitting work, housekeeping of machine room).
- Report recurring issues, risks, and improvement opportunities to supervisors with clear documentation.
Requirements
- Proven experience in lift/elevator operation and/or maintenance (mechanical/electrical) in commercial or institutional settings.
- Working knowledge of elevator components such as traction systems, doors, controllers, safety circuits, and emergency systems.
- Ability to read basic technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and maintenance checklists.
- Familiarity with workplace safety practices, including PPE use and safe handling of tools and electrical systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a safety-first mindset.
- Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with staff and visitors.
- Physically able to stand for extended periods, climb stairs/ladders when required, and work in machine rooms/shafts as per safety rules.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and be on-call for emergencies as needed.
