Role Overview

As a Local Bank Officer (LBO), you will support branch banking operations and contribute to business growth by managing customer relationships, driving deposits and advances, ensuring service quality, and maintaining compliance with banking policies and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day branch support activities including account services, customer requests, and service issue resolution.
  • Acquire and onboard new customers, including CASA accounts, term deposits, and other retail banking products.
  • Support lending and credit-related activities as per internal guidelines (lead generation, documentation support, and coordination).
  • Promote cross-selling of banking products such as cards, digital banking, insurance/third-party products (as permitted), and payment solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to KYC/AML, documentation standards, and internal audit/compliance requirements.
  • Assist in customer education and adoption of digital channels (UPI, mobile/internet banking, etc.).
  • Coordinate with internal teams for operational efficiency, customer servicing, and timely resolution of escalations.
  • Maintain accurate records and support reporting requirements as per branch/region instructions.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized Indian university/college.
  • Age Limit (as per referenced recruitment rules): 20 to 30 years (age relaxations applicable as per IOB norms).
  • Comfortable working in a customer-facing role with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of basic banking operations and strong attention to detail for documentation/compliance.
  • Ability to work in a target-oriented environment while maintaining service quality and ethical standards.
  • Willingness to undergo selection stages such as online examination, local language test, interview, document verification, and medical examination (as applicable).
