Position: Mining Sirdar

We are seeking a safety-focused and field-ready Mining Sirdar to supervise day-to-day mining operations, ensure statutory compliance, and lead teams to achieve production targets without compromising safety or quality. This role requires strong on-ground supervision, knowledge of mining regulations, and the ability to coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders in a mining environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise mining activities on shift, including deployment of manpower and equipment to meet production and development targets.
- Ensure compliance with applicable mining laws, safety standards, and site procedures (including permit systems and safe work practices).
- Conduct pre-shift and on-shift inspections of working faces, haul roads, benches, ventilation (where applicable), and equipment operating zones.
- Identify hazards, implement risk controls, and ensure corrective actions are completed and documented.
- Maintain discipline and effective communication among work crews; provide on-the-job guidance and instructions.
- Coordinate with survey, geology, mechanical/electrical maintenance, and safety departments for smooth operations.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of explosives (if applicable) and adherence to blasting-related safety protocols in coordination with authorized personnel.
- Record shift activities, incidents, near-misses, and production data; prepare and submit shift reports.
- Support incident investigations and implement preventive measures; participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Ensure housekeeping standards, proper barricading/signage, and safe traffic management within the mine.
Requirements
- Valid Mining Sirdar Certificate of Competency (as applicable under Indian mining regulations) and eligibility to work in mines.
- Relevant experience in opencast and/or underground mining operations in a supervisory/shift role.
- Working knowledge of mine safety practices, hazard identification, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret mine plans, basic survey markings, and operational instructions.
- Comfortable working in shifts and in field conditions, including outdoor and industrial environments.
- Basic computer skills for reporting (MS Office or equivalent) and maintaining shift records.
- Strong communication, team leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Medical fitness suitable for mine work as per company and statutory standards.
