Role Overview
As a Nursing Officer, you will provide direct patient care, assist in clinical procedures, coordinate with physicians and allied health teams, maintain accurate clinical documentation, and ensure adherence to hospital policies, infection control practices, and quality standards. You may be assigned to wards, ICUs, emergency services, operation theatres, outpatient services, or specialty units based on institutional requirements.
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, ethical, and patient-centered nursing care in assigned units.
- Monitor patient conditions, record vital signs, and report clinical changes promptly.
- Administer medications and treatments as per physician orders and institutional protocols.
- Assist in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; prepare patients and equipment as needed.
- Maintain accurate nursing notes, charts, and other clinical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control practices, including asepsis and biomedical waste management.
- Support emergency response and critical care workflows where applicable.
- Educate patients and families on care plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and continuity of care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and training programs as assigned.
Requirements
- Education (any one):
- B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing / B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized university/college; OR
- Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) with 2 years experience in a minimum 50-bedded hospital.
- Registration: Must be registered as Nurse & Midwife with the State Nursing Council / Indian Nursing Council (as applicable).
- Age Limit (as on 01 January 2025): Minimum 18 years; Maximum 40 years (age relaxation as per KGMU rules).
- Strong clinical skills, patient communication, teamwork, and ability to work in shifts/rotational duties as required.
