Railway RRC SWR Apprentice

Railway RRC SWR Apprentice role offers an opportunity to begin a career in the Indian Railways ecosystem through structured, hands-on apprenticeship training. This position is designed for candidates who want to develop trade-specific skills, gain practical exposure in a railway workshop/maintenance environment, and build a strong foundation for future technical roles.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in on-the-job training as per the apprenticeship curriculum and departmental schedule.
  • Assist senior technicians and supervisors in day-to-day workshop/field activities related to the assigned trade.
  • Learn and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for tools, equipment, and maintenance practices.
  • Maintain discipline, punctuality, and adherence to training milestones, logbooks, and assessments.
  • Comply with railway safety rules, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and site safety instructions.
  • Support basic troubleshooting, inspection, repair, or fabrication tasks under supervision (as applicable to the trade).
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and assist in material/tool handling as assigned.

Requirements

  • Eligibility as per RRC SWR apprenticeship notification for the relevant trade (educational qualification, age criteria, and other conditions).
  • Basic understanding of technical concepts related to the chosen trade; willingness to learn and work in a practical environment.
  • Ability to follow instructions, safety guidelines, and training protocols.
  • Physical fitness suitable for workshop/field training activities (as per applicable standards).
  • Good communication and teamwork skills; readiness to work in shifts/rosters if required by the training unit.
  • Basic documentation capability to maintain training records/logbooks.
