We are seeking motivated and service-oriented professionals to join as Range Officer of Forest. This role is responsible for field-level leadership in forest protection, conservation initiatives, and implementation of departmental programs. The position involves outdoor duties, coordination with field staff, compliance oversight, and participation in enforcement and conservation operations.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, supervise, and coordinate forest range operations including protection, patrolling, and monitoring activities.
  • Support implementation of afforestation, biodiversity conservation, habitat improvement, and climate-related forestry programs.
  • Assist in prevention, detection, and reporting of forest offences as per applicable rules and departmental procedures.
  • Maintain operational records, field reports, and relevant documentation required by the department.
  • Coordinate with local stakeholders and departmental teams to support conservation awareness and compliance initiatives.
  • Participate in field inspections, surveys, and other assigned duties across forest areas.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and operational guidelines during fieldwork.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Biotechnology, Zoology, Agriculture, Forestry, or Engineering.
  • Age (as on 01 January 2025): Minimum 20 years; Maximum 37 years (Male) / 40 years (Female). Age relaxation as per BPSSC/government rules.
  • Selection Process: Written Exam, Interview, and Physical Endurance Test (PET) as per BPSSC process.
  • Ability to work in field conditions and perform duties requiring physical endurance.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and coordination skills.
  • Integrity and commitment to public service and environmental stewardship.
