Position: Junior Engineer (Agriculture)
We are seeking a motivated Junior Engineer (Agriculture) to support agriculture-focused engineering initiatives across field infrastructure, irrigation systems, soil and water conservation works, and farm mechanization support. This role is well-suited for candidates who enjoy combining on-ground execution with technical documentation, measurement, quality checks, and coordination with multiple stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, execution, and supervision of agriculture engineering works such as irrigation channels, water harvesting structures, micro-irrigation support, and land development activities.
- Conduct site inspections, take measurements, and maintain measurement books (MB), work logs, and progress reports.
- Support preparation and review of estimates, drawings, technical specifications, and basic design calculations as applicable.
- Coordinate with contractors, field staff, and local stakeholders to ensure work is completed on time and as per quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety norms, departmental guidelines, and quality assurance procedures.
- Assist in material verification, basic testing/verification procedures, and tracking of inventory used in works.
- Support documentation for billing, work completion reports, utilization certificates, and other administrative/technical records.
- Participate in field surveys, data collection, and preparation of technical notes for project planning and monitoring.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Agricultural Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline from a recognized institution.
- Working knowledge of basic surveying, measurement, estimation, and field execution practices.
- Familiarity with irrigation concepts, soil & water conservation practices, and agriculture infrastructure projects is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and work orders.
- Comfort with field-based work and travel to project sites as required.
- Basic computer skills for documentation (e.g., spreadsheets, reporting tools); exposure to CAD tools is a plus.
- Strong communication and coordination skills to work with field teams and contractors.
