State Bank of India (SBI) invites applications for the position of Probationary Officer (PO). Selected candidates will undergo a probation period and will be placed across SBI’s network as per organizational requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver customer service and support across branch banking operations, including account services, deposits, and basic financial product guidance.
  • Support day-to-day banking activities such as cash operations, clearing, remittances, and compliance-related tasks.
  • Assist in sales and servicing of banking products including savings/current accounts, loans, cards, and digital banking services.
  • Participate in business development initiatives, customer acquisition, and relationship management activities.
  • Ensure adherence to SBI policies, regulatory requirements, and internal controls, including KYC/AML guidelines.
  • Handle customer queries and complaints professionally, escalating issues appropriately to ensure timely resolution.
  • Prepare and maintain required documentation and reports; support audits and inspections as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve service delivery and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university/college. Candidates in the final year/semester may also be eligible as per official rules.
  • Age: Minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years (as per applicable cut-off date and SBI rules). Age relaxation applies as per SBI recruitment norms.
  • Strong communication skills and customer-centric approach.
  • Basic understanding of banking/financial concepts and willingness to learn.
  • Comfort with digital tools and banking systems; ability to adapt to new technologies and processes.
  • Integrity, professionalism, and ability to work under pressure in a public-facing role.
  • Willingness to work in a transferable role across locations as per SBI’s staffing requirements.

Selection Process

Selection is typically conducted in phases and may include the following stages:

  • Preliminary Written Examination
  • Mains Written Examination
  • Psychometric Test
  • Group Discussion (GD) and/or Interview
  • Document Verification
  • Medical Examination
