Position: Scientific Assistant
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Scientific Assistant to support research, testing, and analytical activities across laboratory and field operations. This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy hands-on technical work, data accuracy, methodical documentation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable scientific outputs.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and executing experiments, tests, and technical evaluations under the guidance of senior scientists/engineers.
- Prepare samples, reagents, and materials; operate laboratory instruments and testing equipment following SOPs.
- Collect, record, and validate experimental data; maintain accurate logs, worksheets, and test reports.
- Support calibration, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting of instruments to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and documentation requirements.
- Help manage laboratory inventory, including consumables, chemicals, equipment usage records, and procurement requests.
- Assist with literature reviews, technical documentation, and preparation of summaries/presentations as required.
- Coordinate with internal teams to schedule tests, share findings, and support project timelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Environmental Science, Computer Science/IT, Electronics, or equivalent technical/scientific field), or a closely related qualification aligned with the role.
- Basic understanding of laboratory practices, measurement methods, and quality procedures.
- Ability to follow SOPs, maintain precise documentation, and handle data responsibly.
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and comfort with digital recordkeeping.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Good communication skills for reporting observations and coordinating with stakeholders.
- Willingness to learn new tools, techniques, and instrumentation as projects require.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a laboratory, testing facility, research project, or technical support role (internship or full-time).
- Familiarity with QA/QC practices, calibration routines, and safety compliance.
- Exposure to data analysis tools, basic scripting, or specialized domain instruments (depending on assignment).
