Position: Senior Technical Assistant-B (STA-B) / Technician-A (Tech-A) (CEPTAM-10)

This role supports DRDO laboratories/establishments through technical assistance, trade operations, and laboratory/workshop activities. Openings span multiple disciplines and trades, with selection primarily through an online examination followed by a skill test (as applicable).

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for laboratory, workshop, and field activities aligned with assigned discipline/trade.
  • Assist in operation, maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting of equipment/tools as per standard procedures.
  • Support documentation, record-keeping, and reporting related to technical tasks and assigned projects.
  • Follow safety protocols, quality standards, and organizational guidelines during all technical operations.
  • Coordinate with scientists/engineers/technical teams to execute assigned tasks within timelines.
  • For Technician roles: perform skilled trade work (e.g., fitting, machining, electrical, electronics, welding, etc.) as per job requirements and skill test standards.

Requirements

  • Age Limit (as on 23-Sep-2022): 18 to 28 years (age relaxation as per rules).
  • Educational Qualification (indicative, varies by discipline/trade):
    • For STA-B (Group B): Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in relevant subject and/or Diploma in relevant engineering/technology discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Electronics, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Instrumentation, etc.) as per notified eligibility.
    • For Tech-A (Group C): Class 10th (High School) with ITI certificate in the relevant trade/branch (for applicable trades) as per notified eligibility.
    • Some disciplines may require specific combinations (e.g., MLT: 10+2 Science + Diploma + experience or B.Sc MLT) as per notification.
  • Ability to work in a structured government/defence R&D environment with adherence to confidentiality and process discipline.
  • Basic computer proficiency may be required depending on the post/trade.
